Podiatry
Foot and leg conditions are evaluated, diagnosed, treated, and managed by podiatrists. Everybody should maintain healthy feet. For those who have certain medical disorders like diabetes, which can lead to foot issues, foot care is especially crucial. Additionally, it is crucial for young children and infants whose feet are still growing.
What do podiatrists treat?
The following are a few of the typical foot issues that podiatrists treat:
- Ingrown toenails
- Fungal toenail infections
- Dry and cracked heels
- Corns and callouses
- Bunions
- Verrucas and warts
- Claw and hammer toes
- Out-toeing and in-toeing
- Flat feet
- Heel spurs and heel pain
- Shin splints
- Blisters
- Gout
- Sports and running injuries
How do I know whether I need to visit a podiatrist?
You should visit a podiatrist if you have pain in your feet or ankles.
You should contact a podiatrist if you have painful feet, thicker or discoloured nails, growths on your feet, cracked skin, or discoloration on your feet.
Podiatrists at Prime Health Hub are available to assist you in achieving good foot health.
Things you should know before visiting a podiatrist
Some people think that to schedule a consultation with a podiatrist, they need a recommendation from their primary care physician. That is not the case. A referral is only necessary for certain situations, such as when you come under a medical concessions program like the Department of Veteran Affairs or Worker’s Compensation.
Make sure to find out the cost before making an appointment with a podiatrist. You might need to pay for your appointments up front and then submit a Medicare rebate claim because some podiatrists bulk bill their services while others operate private practices. Some podiatrists bulk bill the Medicare fee; you just pay the remaining balance.
If you have private health insurance, check to see if your podiatrist visits are covered. If so, they might pay for some or all of your appointments and medical care.
Contact Prime Health Hub today if you believe you require the services of a qualified podiatrist. We would be happy to assist you with any foot issues.
